Normally, I see stupid patents being granted because the people granting the patent don’t understand the subject of the patent at hand. For example, something like the Amazon 1-click purchasing isn’t hard to develop from a web development standpoint, but the people granting the patent have no idea how obvious it is to someone with knowledge of the subject.
But this is ridiculous because any sports fan could have imagined the idea of a hybrid tennis court to have an exhibition match between Roger Federer (best grass player) and Rafael Nadal (best clay player).
